wait for it...
Okay, while we are waiting for the fuss to begin, let me tell you what this blog is going to be all about. First I must tell you that we just bought our very first home. Yay! Originally we were looking for a simple little starter home. Something like this:

Cute, right? Great for a first home, something to ease into and still have money left over for fun things like decorating and eating out and movies... but of course we didn't like any of the smaller homes. We kept telling the Realtor they were too small. For some reason she kept confusing what we said with what we oh so obviously meant. Well, yes we want a little starter home. But does it have to be so... little? So instead, we ended up with this:
Yup. Bit of a size difference. And not as much money left over. Actually, I guess that's not quite true. I mean, we have enough money for things like groceries. And gas. And bills. You know. The fun stuff.
But we love this house. We actually found it on the market SIX MONTHS before we even moved here and loved it instantly. It was way out of our price range but we kept going back and giving the pictures longing glances... there might have been a little drool... When we finally moved to the area we were ECSTATIC to find that the price had dropped close to affordable, but of course we played it cool and checked out a few dozen other houses first.
Okay that's not quite true.
Actually it was the 2nd house we looked at and on the way back to the hotel we called the Realtor to make an offer. There was some negotiating and haggling, a whole lot of paperwork, I wouldn't be surprised if a few goats were exchanged, but eventually we got the house! We moved in and were so exceedingly happy. The home of our dreams. It was PERFECT.
Haha wouldn't that have been nice?
After living here a while we began noticing all the little things that we didn't notice before... faulty plumbing in the basement... a deck on the verge of collapse... completely overgrown landscaping... just to name a few. Needless to say we realized we had our work cut out for us.
Now you are all caught up. This dream home needs a LOT of work, and I'm inviting you to share the journey. I will keep you posted on all the updates. I welcome your thoughts and comments, and am always open to suggestions. We are going to take this house from this:
