About Me

Hi everyone! My name is AJ and I'm so happy to meet each and every one of you. I love all things crafty: scrapbooking, drawing, painting, label making, organizing... I have a hard time shopping for home decor because I always think to myself I could make that for so much cheaper. As a scatterbrained pack-rat, keeping a clean home has always been a bit of a challenge. I'm learning that the secret to having a beautiful home is having LESS STUFF. So I've begun the process of emptying my home of all things unnecessary, and organizing the things that are. I'm making progress, and it is definitely noticeable!

Since I know you are probably dying to hear my back story, I am delighted to fill you in!

I met my wonderful hubby in college. Okay, technically we met at work. Sonic Drive-In. Ah college days. One of his first gifts to me was our adorable pomeranian Shadow, thus named because he is always following his people... he was our little shadow.

After dating for a few years we got married and joined the Air Force. Well, he joined the Air Force, but sometimes it sure seemed like I'd joined, too. Over the next 6 years we moved from Arkansas, to Texas, to California.

Our very next location was definitely a bummer. Okay, that's a little bit of sarcasm. After California the Air Force shipped us overseas to Hawaii! I know what you're thinking. OMG Hawaii?!? Yeah, it was a hardship, but we made it work.

We decided Hawaii was the perfect place to have our first child, and C was born two years ago. I gave up my terrific job as a Wedding Coordinator to stay at home with my little guy, and I have loved every minute.

Last year my husband was offered a great job in St Louis, so we left military life to become civilians. For the first time we had our own home. After years of moving around repeatedly and having to fill out paperwork just to plant a garden or paint a bedroom (no seriously, they literally make you FILL OUT PAPERWORK before you are allowed to do things like plant a garden or paint a room), I was ecstatic to be able to do anything I wanted in our home.

After a few years in our new home we decided it was time for baby #2 and little miss K was born!

Obviously our home life is a little more hectic nowadays, and I still have trouble trying to get things done. But now that the pregnancy is over I'm ready to get started again and turn this house into a home. It may take a little longer than expected but we are taking it one misadventure at a time and I hope you will stick with us while we do!
